Oborevwori Commissions Projects As Udu Council Chairman, Oyibode Marks Two Years In Office

Oborevwori Commissions ProjDELTA state Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots with continued support for initiatives that strengthen local governments and improve the welfare of citizens across the state.

The governor gave the assurance on Tuesday during the commissioning of projects executed by the Udu Local Government Council as part of activities marking the second anniversary of the administration of the Chairman of the council, Hon. Vincent Oyibode.

The governor who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Prince Johnson Erijo, commissioned a modern Chairman’s Office Complex, a chapel, a shopping mall and other completed projects as he witnessed the presentation of operational vehicles to security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilante groups and others.

Speaking on behalf of the governor described the projects as evidence of the council’s commitment to prudent management of public resources and people-centred governance.

According to him, “The newly commissioned Chairman’s Office Complex was more than a physical structure as it would serve as a centre where decisions affecting the lives and welfare of the people would be made.

“The office complex is not just another building; it is a place where decisions that affect the lives of our people will be made by providing a better working environment for the council, it will improve service delivery and bring government closer to the people.

“The Council Chairman had explained that upon assuming office, he discovered several shrines within the council secretariat, prompting the decision to build a chapel where workers and residents could worship and seek God’s guidance.

“As we build offices and other public facilities, we must also remember the importance of nurturing our spiritual lives and this chapel will serve as a place where people can pray, reflect and seek God’s wisdom. It reminds us that good leadership is built not only on hard work but also on integrity, compassion and the fear of God,” Erijo stated.

“These facilities belong to all of us and it is our collective responsibility to preserve them for future generations.” He advised.

Earlier in his address, Udu Council Chairman, Hon Vincent Oyibode said, “The decision to embark on all these projects is because of the confidence the people of Udu reposed in me.

“When people trust you, you must not betray that trust, I am holding this office in trust for the people of Udu.

“I believe in the Udu struggle and progress of Udu and we must do something that people will remember us for.

“The projects we are executing are community projects, the police station is Udu project, the market is Udu project, the chapel is a Udu project and they are not projects for individuals but for the benefit of everyone.

“And you can see that the people are happy, our leaders are here today because they appreciate what we are doing and they should expect more transformation as we are transforming Udu Kingdom.

“The peace we are enjoying today is enough testimony, the youths believe in me and I also trust them and they appreciate what we are doing because nobody wants to destroy our hometown.

“Whenever I meet with the youths, they listen to me and w have consolidate on this peace which we must maintain as we continue to respect one another.

“We will continue to pursue peace and development because every Udu project belongs to the people.”

On cultism, I have engaged the youths and they assured me they will not allow cult activities to destroy Udu and hat is the peace you are seeing today.

The governor has approved key projects for Udu, and once the people heard the approvals had been given and contractors identified, they became excited because what Udu people desire most is development and the Udu people are looking forward to the implication of the projects.

Commending the large turnout, Oyibode said, “You saw the calibre of leaders who attended today’s event. I remain humble and loyal to them, I respect our traditional rulers, our political leaders and every stakeholder.

“That respect has earned me their support, and together we will continue to work for the peace, unity and development of Udu.” He said.
