CP Orutugu Orders Swift Probe Into Suspected Murder Of 23-Year-Old Nursing Student In Alor

 

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has directed detectives to fast-track investigations into the suspected murder of a 23-year-old female student whose lifeless body was found in her residence at Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.

The victim, identified as a student of the College of Nursing Sciences, Alor, was reportedly found dead in her apartment on June 14, 2026, prompting the transfer of the case from the Nnobi Divisional Police Headquarters to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for a detailed and discreet investigation.

Police said officers who visited the scene discovered a deep cut on the deceased’s thigh, other visible injuries on her body, and blood stains within the premises, raising strong suspicions of homicide.

As part of the ongoing investigation, the landlord of the property has been taken into custody and is being interrogated by detectives. The remains of the deceased have been deposited in a hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.

CP Orutugu charged the investigative team to conduct a thorough, professional and intelligence-driven investigation, stressing that no effort should be spared in identifying and prosecuting anyone found responsible for the crime.

The Police Commissioner also reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice for the deceased and urged members of the public with credible information that could assist the investigation to come forward.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the Command remains committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
