2027: Egukawhore Backs Oborevwori For Second Term, Hails Isoko Unity

A prominent Isoko leader, stakeholder and oil magnate, High Chief (Dr.) Victor Emonena Egukawhore, has commended the Isoko nation for demonstrating unity and solidarity, insisting that Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, deserves re-election in 2027 because of his administration’s developmental strides and impact on the people.

Egukawhore popularly called Wayles and referred to as ‘Marine Oxygen’ in the oil and gas industry, made this known while speaking with newsmen at a reception held in honour of the Governor after his historic hosting by the nation.

During the hosting by Isoko nation, the governor was bestowed with a traditional title of Arueroro of Isoko Nation in honour of his administration’s contributions to the Isoko ethnicity.

The gathering also provided an opportunity for the people to reaffirm their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Oborevwori’s second-term bids in the 2027 general elections.

Describing the large turnout at the event as a demonstration of the Isoko people’s appreciation for the governor, High Chief Dr Victor Wayles said the enthusiasm displayed by participants reflected their recognition of the administration’s efforts to promote development and improve the welfare of the people.

He maintained that the gathering went beyond politics, describing it as an expression of cultural identity, collective responsibility and appreciation for leadership.

He said the Isoko nation, with its rich cultural, social and economic heritage, could achieve greater progress if its people remained united and committed to pursuing common interests.

Egukawhore said Oborevwori’s relationship with the Isoko people, alongside what he described as the developmental strides of his administration, had strengthened their resolve to support his re-election.

He described the governor as a son of the Isoko nation, whose cultural roots and connection with the people had reinforced their sense of belonging.

The Marine Oxygen urged Isoko political leaders, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to sustain the spirit of unity demonstrated at the gathering, as the cooperation and collective responsibility were necessary for the advancement of the ethnic nationality.

On his motivation for philanthropy, Egukawhore said helping others was an essential part of his personal philosophy, noting that individuals also contributed to their own well-being by supporting others.

“If you don’t help others, you cannot help yourself. By helping others, you are equally helping yourself,” he said.

He revealed d that supporting people, particularly those in need, was not merely an act of generosity but also a contribution to community development and the promotion of mutual assistance.

On the political future of the Isoko nation beyond 2031, Egukawhore cautioned against premature endorsements of governorship aspirants, insisting that character, integrity, competence and commitment to the common good should determine who receives the people’s support.

He said anyone aspiring to represent the Isoko nation in a future governorship contest must demonstrate good character and a genuine commitment to the collective interests of the people.

The pursuit of political leadership should not be driven solely by personal ambition but by a willingness to serve and deliver meaningful development.

He urged Isoko leaders and stakeholders to prioritise consultation and collective decision-making when considering future political leadership, warning that personal interests should not be allowed to override the aspirations of the people.

Egukawhore also commended Oborevwori for attending the gathering despite his tight schedule, describing the governor’s presence as a demonstration of his willingness to identify with the Isoko people.

He particularly praised the governor for approving requests presented by persons with disabilities, saying the gesture demonstrated concern for vulnerable members of society.

The Isoko leader expressed confidence that the governor’s perceived responsiveness to the needs of the people would strengthen support for his administration ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

While acknowledging the existence of differing political opinions among the Isoko people, Egukawhore said the gathering reflected a shared commitment to unity, development and the advancement of the ethnic nationality.

He urged community members and political leaders to sustain the spirit of solidarity, stressing that unity, good character and responsible leadership remained essential to the progress of the Isoko nation.
