As efforts geared towards alleviating the sufferings of the needy for the two weeks lockdown ordered by the Delta State Government to check the spread of the ravaging coronavirus, some political leaders of Otibio Ward in Isoko North Local Government Council of Delta State, on Saturday embarked on door to door disbursement of cashes to over 1500 persons in Otibio Ward.
The presentation which was done as part of their contributions towards cushioning the effect of the Stay at Home orders of Government caused by the Corona Virus Pandemic, was done without party or religious consideration.
The leaders who are Engr. Jonathan Ukodhiko, Engr. Peter Odunwa and Hon Jude Omena Ogbimi presented 10,000 and 5000 cashes to over 1500 persons drawn from Enagbedi, Erawha, Aziaro, Otie and Otor-Igho communities respectively who are widows, old men and women, among others.
While presenting the cash to the beneficiaries, one of the donor, Engr. Peter Odunwa said that, the gesture was borne out of their desires to ameliorate the suffering of the very poor in the communities who have been finding it difficult to feed.
According to Engr Peter Odunwa; “We successfully came together to show our unflinching commitment towards the amelioration of tough times from our people. The distribution was done without party or religious consideration.
“All we did was to put smile on the faces of the widows, old men and women who are vulnerable in the communities we visited under Otibio Ward. Though its not much but I am glad the purpose was achieved and thank God you saw the smile on their faces. This shows that they appreciate what we gave to them.”
