Urhobo Youth Leader Urges Delta CP To Disband Hunters, Anti-Cult In Ughelli North

Welfare Officer and Ughelli Kingdom Representatives at the Urhobo Progress Union Youth wing, Comrade Ese Agbobore has called on the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abaniwonda Olufemi, Ughelli Area Commander and the Ughelli A’ division, DPO, to disband the activities of the Hunter and Anti-Cult groups in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
He made this call when condemning the illegal extortion and activities allegedly embarked upon by the groups on the roads.
According to him, “The Hunters and Anti-cult groups has taken over the duties of the conventional police to mount roadblocks at strategic locations and will be checking Vehicles, Keke and Motorcycles particulars and searching people.
“Their activities is gradually becoming unbearable and i appealing to the Delta State CP, Abaniwonda Olufemi, Ughelli Area Commander, ACP Ademola Adebayo, the DPO, Ughelli A’division, Sadiq Muftau to curb their menace before it snowball into a major security breach.
“Their rampant harassment of innocent youths is a primary concern that is becoming unbeatable in Ughelli North.
“The presence of these groups on the roads has created an atmosphere of fear and intimidation for many young people, often resulting in unwarranted arrests and searches.
“As the youth representative of Ughelli Kingdom, it is mission, duty and responsibilities to stand up for the rights and well-being of young people in the community.
“And I believes the removal of Anti Cult and Hunters from the roads is a crucial step towards restoring peace and harmony in Ughelli.
Its my position to advocate for positive change, and to work tirelessly to ensure that the voices of the youth are heard and respected in the community.”
Agbobore expressed his deep concern over reports of Anti Cult and Hunters carrying knives and battle axes, which he deems inappropriate and potentially dangerous.
“Ughelli has always enjoyed a peaceful relationship with law enforcement, and that the presence of these armed groups is undermining that relationship and casting a negative light on the community.
Agbobore who vowed to work closely with the relevant authorities to ensure that Ughelli remains a safe and welcoming place for its youth, called on Ughelli youths to be law abiding, shun violence and abstain from drugs and crime.
