Again, two police officers killed, others injured in an ambush attack in Delta

Barely four days after a police officer attached to Dragon 20, identified as Sergeant Godspower Ogute was shot dead along the East/West road in Ogor, Ughelli North in an ambushed attack, another two officers, attached to Otor-Owhe division have been shot dead at a check point at Eboh-Iyede, Isoko North Local Government Delta state.
Two other police officers also sustained life threatening gunshot injuries and their AK-47 rifles were taken away, it was confirmed by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka.
Two unidentified policemen were reported to have sustained life threatening gunshot wounds while the hoodlums also took away two AK 47 rifles belonging to the policemen.
Following the recent attack on security agencies, residents of Ughelli and neighboring communities have sent an  open letter to the Inspector General of Police, IGP who expressing fears over their heads because towns and villages are under siege by gunmen that have brazenly attacked policemen and taken away their arms.
The letter which was signed by the group’s president and secretary, Chief Albert Omokiniovo and Mr. Odeme Akpinorku respectively, said: “Just last week Thursday, a team of policemen attached to the Ughelli Area Command, were ambushed with one policeman shot dead while others sustained various degrees of gunshot wounds.
“Two policemen were also killed in a spate of three days at separate locations in the month of September when some unidentified hoodlums ambushed them at their checkpoints and took away their rifles.
“With these arms still in the hands of these hoodlums, we wonder what lies our fate during the yuletide and the forth coming general elections. It is on this premise that we are appealing to you to use your good office towards ensuring that peace and sanity is restored in Ughelli and environs.”
According to Aniamaka, the unfortunate incident happened on Sunday and the police is seeking credible information that could lead to the arrest of the hoodlums.
 “Two policemen were injured during the incident and they are recuperating at an undisclosed hospital. However, we actually did lost two AK 47 rifles during the incident, but we are on top of the matter.” he revealed.
