Peoples’ FM GM Pledges Partnership With UCC On Anti-Vice Sensitization For Bayelsa Students

 

 

 

 

The General Manager of Peoples’ FM 93.1, Mrs. Adetokunbo Adeeko, has pledged the station’s support for a sensitization programme on drug abuse, cultism, and cybercrime proposed by the United Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Bayelsa State Council.

 

Mrs. Adeeko made the pledge when the Chapel’s leadership paid a courtesy visit to the station in Yenagoa.

 

She commended journalists in the state for their contributions to nation-building through the print and electronic media.

 

According to her, the media’s core mandate is to project, enlighten, educate, and entertain citizens, while avoiding actions that threaten peace and unity.

 

On the Chapel’s proposed programme themed _“Menace of Drug Abuse, Cultism, Cybercrime and the Future of Bayelsa Students”, Mrs. Adeeko described the initiative as timely and necessary and however, challenged the organizers to expand the scope beyond students to include teachers and parents.

 

Mrs. Adeeko assured the Chapel of People’s FM’s readiness to partner and provide publicity for the programme and reiterated the station’s commitment to promoting societal values.

 

Earlier, Chairman of the United Corespondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Bayelsa State Council, Comrade Ekaunkumo Amgbare said the visit was aimed at formally introducing the new executive, strengthening existing ties with the station, and exploring partnership opportunities that will benefit Bayelsa residents.

 

Amgbare also sought the station’s support in publicizing its forthcoming sensitization programme for selected secondary schools in Yenagoa, themed: “Menace of Drug Abuse, Cultism, Cybercrime and the Future of Bayelsa Students”

 

He noted that as media practitioners, it is the Chapel’s responsibility to address vices plaguing schools and equip students with values for a better future.

 

He lauded People’s FM for its credibility and consistent delivery of factual, community-focused, and youth-oriented programming.

 

He attributed the station’s multiple awards to “managerial excellence, visionary leadership, and prudent management of human and material resources.”
