The Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom, HRM Albert Akpomudje (SAN), Eyavwien-Alaka I, has announced a total ban on cult-related activities and the abuse of illicit drugs across the kingdom, directing all cult members to immediately renounce their membership or face appropriate sanctions.
The directive followed an enlarged meeting with leaders of communities in the kingdom as part of renewed efforts to strengthen peace, security and sustainable development.
The monarch described cultism and drug abuse as serious threats to public safety, particularly among youths, noting that the twin vices have fueled crime, violence and social unrest in many communities.
He declared that the kingdom would no longer tolerate activities capable of undermining peace, unity and the overall wellbeing of the people.
The Ohworode urged those involved in cult groups to abandon such associations without delay and embrace lawful and productive lifestyles. He also called on parents, guardians, community leaders and youth organisations to join hands in discouraging criminality and substance abuse.
He further appealed to security agencies and relevant government authorities to collaborate with community stakeholders in enforcing the ban and ensuring that offenders are prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Residents were also encouraged to support the campaign by reporting suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities while promoting values of peace, mutual respect and community development.
Reaffirming his commitment to maintaining law and order, the traditional ruler expressed confidence that the renewed campaign against cultism and drug abuse would create a safer environment and pave the way for greater social and economic development across Olomu Kingdom.
