Odior Gains IGM Backing With N10m, Endorses Tinubu, Oborevwori, Ukodhiko For Second Term

A prominent grassroots political group in Isoko Nation, the Isoko Grassroots Movement (IGM), has presented a cheque of N10 million to the member representing Isoko North State Constituency, Hon. Bernard Odior, to support his bid for re-election in the 2027 general elections.

The group also used the occasion to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and the member representing Isoko North/South Federal Constituency, Hon. Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, for second terms in office.

The endorsement and presentation took place during a well-attended political gathering in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area, marking the formal launch of the group’s activities ahead of the 2027 elections.

The event featured a solidarity procession through major parts of Ozoro, culminating at Ala Square, where supporters, political stakeholders, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from across the 13 wards in the local government area gathered in large numbers to demonstrate support for the endorsed candidates.

Speaking at the event, the Director-General of the group, Mr. Kingsley Aka, alongside its leader, Chief Timothy Ezue, commended the turnout and enthusiasm of attendees despite the short notice.

They noted that the movement had carefully assessed the political landscape and resolved to support leaders they described as “performing and people-oriented.”

The duo praised the leadership of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori, citing ongoing development efforts at the national and state levels.

They also applauded the contributions of Hon. Ukodhiko and Hon. Odior, highlighting their constituency projects and accessibility to the people.

Chief Ezue, in particular, pointed to Odior’s performance within his first term, stating that the lawmaker’s achievements had justified the group’s decision to support his re-election.

He urged constituents to sustain their backing to ensure continued development in Isoko North.

Other speakers at the event, including former Isoko North Local Government Chairman and Executive Assistant to the Governor on political matters, Chief Emmanuel Edevor, as well as former President-General of Ozoro Kingdom, High Chief Miller Akpoili Daniel, called for unity among the people in support of the endorsed candidates.

They expressed confidence in their chances, describing them as leaders who had delivered on their mandates.

Chief Edevor noted that both Ukodhiko and Odior had performed credibly as first-time legislators and deserved another term to consolidate on their achievements.

In separate remarks, political aides including Dr Patrick Akporuno and Dr. Paul Oweh, Chairman of the Delta State Hospital Management Board, also commended the lawmakers for their leadership and urged continued grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections.

Dr. Oweh moved a motion for the formal endorsement of President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, Hon. Ukodhiko, and Hon. Odior for second terms, which was unanimously adopted through a voice vote.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the N10 million cheque by IGM to support Odior’s nomination and expression of interest forms. The cheque was received on his behalf by his Special Assistant, Engr. Thomas Amuke.
