League Of Women Voters Of Nigeria, NILOWV, Demand SGF, SSGs, Appointments From State, Fed Govt

 Congratulates Buhari, Governors

The League of Women Voters of Nigeria has, NILOWV, has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and all governors that were sworn into power on May 29, 2019.

This is just as they had demand for the appointment of Secretary to Federal and State Government respectively from President Muhammadu Buhari and State governors.

President of NILOWV, Dr. Esther Uduehi in her congratulatory said,  “We wishe to state that as they make appointments into their governments they should remember the Nigerian Gender policy and the 35% UN affirmative  action of which Nigeria is signatory to.

“The women are saddened that while other African countries are increasing female participation in governance, Nigeria is declining in the same and with the woeful performance in the 2019 elections gender wise, we urge all the Parties and governments to zone Offices to Women as a disadvantaged group of Nigeria.

Dame Dr. Esther Uduehi.

“We demand the position of SGF, SSGs and 50/50 % of all appointments because it was noted that the women cast more that 50% of the total votes cast in all the elections.
“Our demand is the least that can be offered the women in return. Nigeria is not an affair for the men alone and we need the full participation of both men and women to develop the country.
“Chambers of the National Assembly should be headed by a woman and that the List of Principal Officers in both Chambers should be equally divided.

“At the State Assemblies, we wish to see at least 35 percent of Principal Officers of each Assembly as woman and no less than 12 Speakers of the State Assemblies from.women.

“We believe that this is possible and doable if there is the political will and we therefore appeal to all the Governments to muster the will to do so.

“We demand better living conditions and maximum security for every Nigerian but most importantly for the women and the youths.

“The League believes that women are in a better position to perfect democracy and create a better Society. Together we can and we can make the difference! Let’s us partner for a better Nigeria! God bless Nigeria”. Dr Uduehi held
