Suspected hoodlums last Friday, vandalized the transformer, cables and other components of the Delta State College of Education, Mosogar, Ethiope West local government area of Delta state.

The College of Education, Mosogar, has been in perpetual darkness for over 8 years until the appointment of the provost, Dr. Imide Israel who recently brought light to the college after several efforts and appeals to spirited individuals.

The college had also in the past suffered a lot of setbacks as several items such as television, fridges, generators and others were carted away, including an already wired building.

One of the community leaders, Elder Moses Onofeghabor has appealed to the Delta state Governor, Sen. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa and other security agents to fish out hoodlums and ensure they are brought to book with their conspirators.

It was reliably gathered that on Friday 6th of November, 2020, the college community woke up to see that the transformer servicing the college community was vandalized, removing the cables and other important components, making the transformer empty.

“Some persons in the name of community often time formed the habit of locking up the institution gate if contractors failed to give them percentage of any contract is to be executed in the college.

“Also reliably informed that college management led by Dr. Imide Israel as the provost had come with a mindset to changing the narrative by taking the college to greater heights in line with the SMART Agenda of Governor Okowa.

“In a short while that the provost had assumed office, there have been some tremendous achievement such as the installation of electricity to the college about 3 weeks ago through assistance of Hon Ben Igbakpa the member representing Ethiope federal constituency.

“The security personnel of the college who are mainly indigenes and community vigilante on the payroll of the college couldn’t help the situation, but one question that still bothers the minds of the public is whether someone without knowledge of electricity can dare vandalized transformer from a high voltage without being noticed.

“Am using this medium to call on Sen. Okowa who’s SMART Agenda includes education and community development to as a matter of urgency call on the Mosogar community youths and leaders to order and to let them know that the college belong to Delta State and not Mosogar community. A word is enough for the wise.”

All attempt to reach the Provost of the College of Education, Mosogar for comments proves abortive but a staff of the institution who pleaded anonymity confirmed the incident and appealed to all to give the provost room to develop the school not frustrating his efforts.
