The Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG) has facilitated Muslim faithful across Nigeria and beyond on the occasion of the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Tochukwu Eluwa, the guild described the Mawlid celebration as an important occasion for Muslims to reflect on the teachings, virtues and exemplary life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
GOMEP-NG particularly highlighted the Prophet’s teachings on peace, compassion, justice, tolerance, love and respect for humanity, saying such values remained relevant to Nigeria’s quest for peace and national development.
The guild stressed that Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity, urging citizens to continue to promote mutual respect, religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.
It said, “Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity and the peaceful coexistence of people of different faiths and backgrounds.”
The organisation also called on Muslim faithful to use the occasion to offer prayers for the country, its leaders and citizens, while renewing their commitment to values capable of strengthening social harmony and national development.
GOMEP-NG wished Muslim faithful across the country a peaceful and meaningful Mawlid celebration, expressing hope that the occasion would bring renewed hope, peace and blessings to Nigeria.
