Confusion trailed the planned primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Olomu Ward One on Saturday, May 16, 2026, as the exercise failed to hold despite recorded voter turnout across five communities.
Available figures showed that 261 members turned out in Ogoni Community, 240 in Okpe, 215 in Ophori, 110 in Okpavuerhe, and 108 in Agbon Olomu, bringing the total participation to 934 party members.
However, there was no evidence of an officially conducted primary election in the ward, raising concerns among party faithful and observers over the credibility of the process.
Sources within the ward said members gathered in anticipation of the exercise, but no voting procedure or accreditation process was carried out by party officials.
The development has sparked questions about how turnout figures were compiled in the absence of a formal election, with some stakeholders describing the situation as a breach of internal democratic norms.
As of press time, officials of the party in Olomu Ward One had yet to issue an explanation regarding the cancellation or failure to conduct the primary.
