APC Adopts Direct Primaries For National Assembly Elections In Bayelsa

The All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State has commenced the process of selecting candidates for the House of Representatives and Senate seats.

Chairman of the Electoral Panel, Chief Solomon Ogba, who disclosed this in a briefing in Yenagoa, pledged to conduct a fair and transparent direct Primaries elections.

Ogba noted that all relevant institutions involved in election conduct were present, adding that all sensitive and non-sensitive materials had been distributed to polling areas across the state.

“The APC in Bayelsa State has decided to rely on Section 84, Subsection 2 of the Electoral Act 2026, which provides for direct primaries for this exercise.

“We have painstakingly selected people we believe will discharge this responsibility fairly,” Ogba stated.

He added that persons of proven integrity had been selected to conduct the polls in all wards and federal constituencies.

Ogba assured stakeholders that the primaries would be conducted transparently and called on party members and the public to support the process.

He also commended the Bayelsa State Government, residents, and the APC for creating a peaceful atmosphere for the exercise.
