The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old woman, identified as Anulika Onyeanusia, over alleged child pornography and sexual abuse of a minor in Onitsha, the state.
The arrest followed intelligence received by the Command on Wednesday, September 10, 2026, regarding a trending video purportedly showing a woman allegedly using sex toys on a minor.
Following the information, police operatives swung into action and arrested the suspect in connection with the alleged offence.
Four children, aged two, three, six and nine years, were also rescued during the operation, while sex toys and other items suspected to be relevant to the investigation were recovered.
The suspect is currently in police custody as detectives intensify investigations into the circumstances surrounding the alleged offence and determine whether other persons may have been involved.
The husband of the suspect has also been invited for questioning as investigators seek to establish whether he has any connection with the alleged incident.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, who expressed deep concern over the allegation, described any act involving the exploitation or abuse of children as unacceptable.
He directed a thorough and professional investigation into the matter, stressing that the safety and welfare of the rescued children must remain a priority.
According to the Command, efforts are also being made to ensure that the children receive appropriate care, protection, counselling and other necessary support in collaboration with relevant child-protection agencies.
The police said the identities and privacy of the children would be protected throughout the investigation, adding that they would be treated with compassion and sensitivity.
The Command commended vigilante operatives, bloggers and residents whose information, it said, assisted the police in the investigation and eventual arrest of the suspect.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Awka.
He assured the public that the Command would continue to take decisive action against acts capable of endangering children and other vulnerable members of society.
