The President-General of the Ughelli Descendants Union (UDU), Olorogun Samuel Akpimegi, has congratulated Pa. Thomas Oboerhidjoma Okorugbo on his installation as the Okpako Orere of Ofuoma Community, describing the honour as a fitting recognition of a lifetime of wisdom, humility and unwavering commitment to the peace and development of the community.
In a congratulatory message, Akpimegi said the installation was a testament to Okorugbo’s exemplary life and invaluable contributions to preserving the cultural heritage and traditions of the people.
“This honour is a fitting tribute to a life defined by wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to the growth, peace, and cultural heritage of our people,” he said.
He noted that as the oldest man in Ofuoma Community, the newly installed Okpako Orere occupies a unique position as the custodian of the community’s history and traditions.
“As the oldest man of the community, you embody the living memory of our history, the guardian of our cherished traditions, and a trusted voice whose counsel will continue to guide generations,” Akpimegi stated.
The UDU President-General expressed confidence that the new traditional leader would deploy his vast experience and sense of justice to promote peace, unity and development within the community.
“I am confident that your wealth of experience, fatherly counsel, and enduring sense of justice will further strengthen unity, deepen respect for our customs, inspire our youth to uphold the values of honour and service, and advance the collective progress of Ofuoma Community and the Ughelli Kingdom at large,” he added.
Akpimegi also prayed for divine guidance, sound health and longevity for the elder statesman as he assumes the responsibilities of the revered office.
“May the Almighty grant you good health, uncommon wisdom, enduring strength and longevity to discharge the sacred responsibilities of this revered office with dignity and distinction,” he said.
He wished the newly installed Okpako Orere a successful and impactful reign, reaffirming the Ughelli Descendants Union’s commitment to supporting traditional institutions that promote peace, unity and cultural preservation across Ughelli Kingdom.
