Yoruba elders want true federalism

The Yoruba elders rose from a summit recently in Ibadan and resolved to settle for true federalism as it was in the first republic. The South West regional leaders met in Ibadan where they called for the Nigeria’s adopt a constitution guided the governance from 1960 to 1963 before the national crisis that led to military intervention. Venezuela seeks debt negotiations after U.S. sanctions

President Nicolas Maduro has invited bondholders to unspecified “negotiations” over Venezuela’s foreign debt in coming days in response to recent U.S. financial sanctions. Delta seals 12 companies over tax liabilities

The Delta Board of Internal Revenue (DBIR) on Friday sealed 12 companies, hotels and schools in Warri, over tax liabilities. According to Mr Joel Ogege, DBIR’s Director (Enforcement and Compliance), the companies were shut over accumulated Personal Income Tax liabilities totaling more than N10 million. Ogege, who led the team, said that the tax liabilities ranged from between N500,000 to N3 million. “We were left with no option after the defaulters ignored several notices, including Court orders,” he said.
