Security Agents attached to the Ughelli Area Command has averted bloodbath among two secondary schools in Ughelli metropolis in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The timely arrival of the Nigeria Police and other security outfits saved the day or it would have been a bloodbath among Oharisi and Ughelli Mixed Secondary schools.
According to the principal of Ughelli Mixed Secondary school, name withheld, “We have been experiencing trouble coming from a particular school, Oharisi Secondary School, since Wednesday last week they have been coming to attack our students.
The principal who was represented by Comr. Cresc Okotie alleged that on Friday last two weeks, “I was on ground after after closing and I saw the troop of students coming towards our school and I inquired about where they are going and they told me they are looking for a friend.
But to my surprise, some of our students that were holding Student Union meeting were being attacked by matchetes under my nose. I accosted them and they ran away just to regroup to come back but before they came we have left.
“Today being our Inter-house Sports day, they came again in large number and the Principal had to call the security apparatus for our protection.
“If not for their timely arrival, we don’t now what would have happened, I don’t know why they keep coming to our school to cause trouble.
Speaking further, the principal held that the issue has become a reoccurring issues around us and we are appealing to the state government to investigate these students because they are suspected cultists with their activities.
When contacted, the principal of Oharisi Secondary school denied the allegations, saying in his reply via text message said, “Pls, students of Oharisi sec sch are well behaved students.
“However, if you notice any infractions on their attitude/behavior, it maybe they are not registered students of the sch.
“You may therefore wish to visit the Principal’s Office on Monday 17th for more clarifications”.
A senior police officer attached to Ughelli Area Command said, we got the information that some students from one of the schools are planning an attack and we have to mobilized to salvage the situation.
