Resident doctors suspend nationwide strike

The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) in the early hours of today, Thursday, suspended its nationwide strike.

Speaking with reporters after the association’s meeting, the Chairman of NARD, UCH, Ibadan chapter, Segun Olaopa, said decision to suspend the strike was sequel to appeal from the public.

According to him, the association would meet in a fortnight to review the extent to which the federal government had met the agreement reached.

“The decision was reached following appeals from the public that the doctors should give the federal government more time to meet their demands,” Olaopa said.

Recall that the resident doctors commenced nationwide strike on September 4, 2017.
