Delta Central Senatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Olorogun Dr. Ovie Ughwanogho has described the N30,000 minimum wage offers by the Federal government as a Greek offer of a bag of rice to milk Nigerians more from the current situation.

Addressing newsmen, Ughwanogho said, “The new minimum wage agreed by the federal government is a mockery on democracy and Nigerians.

According to him, “The federal government should reduce their wardrobe, car maintenance, travelling and medical allowances to increase the welfare of civil servants in the country.

The cost maintaining one of their SUVs is far higher than the said N30,000 which they are approving as minimum wage. Civil servants are people that are laboring for this country day and night just for politicians to come and take them for granted.

He said, “By now the Nigeria labour Congress, NLC, should be crying out loud and clear giving directives on to its followers that any politician who can pay the minimum wage of N50,000 and above are those they should support and not those who are not looking into their deplorable condition.

He however urged the leadership of the NLC not to be infiltrated by politicians because of peanuts to forget the power of the Ballot box saying; in democracy their votes should tally with their collective interest.
