LG Election: Delta CP Restricts Vehicular Movement From 12AM – 4PM

To ensure a peaceful conduct of Saturday’s Local Government election in Delta State, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Mr Ari Muhammed Ali, has ordered a restriction on vehicular movement across the state from 12 midnight on Friday, March 5 to 4pm on Saturday, March 6, 2021.

The CP, who gave the order on Wednesday in a statement issued by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, CSP Edafe Bright, however, explained that persons going to exercise their civic right would not be prevented from doing so.

The Command assured all essential service providers, including NUPENG tanker drivers/workers, PHCN, GSM service providers, hospital/clinic staff, fire service and media houses of their safety while carrying out their lawful duties during the election.

CP Ari Mohammed Ali emphasized that only those on official and emergency duties with valid means of identification, as well as the electorate with permanent voters cards going to their registered polling units to cast their votes, would be allowed passage during the restriction order.

While regretting the inconvenience the restriction order would cause commuters passing Delta State to other states, the CP enjoined them to take alternative routes or make do with other contingency plans.

The Command urged all stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the election, and respect the rules guiding the process.
