The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has confirmed receiving a petition with more than 188,000 eligible voters, in Kogi West constituency signing for Senator Dino Melaye’s recall.
It has now written officially to the senator, notifying him about the petition.
Melaye has condemned the recall move, saying it would fail and because it was being sponsored by the Kogi State Governor Yahya Bello.
INEC also said it would publish details of the verification process of all the signatories to the petition on July the 3rd, to confirm if they are indeed eligible voters in Melaye’s constituency.
If Melaye’s recall succeeds, he would be the first senator ever recalled in Nigeria’s history.
