The Neo-Black Movement of Africa, Ughelli Zone, has donated cash and relief material worth thousands of naira to flood victims to cushion the had effect of the ravaging flood in Ughelli North local government area of Delta state.
Items donated to victims at the Evwreni IDP camp includes, cash, bags of Garri, Rice, Beans, tuber of yams cartons of noodles, toiletries, germicides, soaps, detergents, tomato paste, pastries and toothpastes.
Speaking during the presentation, the Ughelli Zonal Head, Olorogun (Dr) Uteme Bateren said, “We are here for humanitarian visit and because of the massiveness of the flood that destroyed properties, displace most of them from their homes.
“The Neo-Black Movement of Africa as an Organization cannot be in the hiding when things like this happened as we believed in the consciousness of the black race and we were happy when we saw them happy.
According to him, “It is not that we have enough but we are here to show concern by donating these items and cash to help in cushioning the hard effect of the flood on them.
“We want them to feel at home even if they are not in their individual homes, and we have come to assist them with the little, we are aware that the government cannot it alone and we are appealing to other organizations to do same in the various IDP camps in the state and country.
Also speaking, Olorogun Shikaleke Okiemute said, “The situation at the camp is pathetic because they are homeless and nobody will be happy when they are displaced in a time like this.
“I am glad that the government of the day deem it necessary to find a place for them, it cannot be suitable like where they used to be but it is good for a start.
“The NBM believes in charity and as our brothers keeper, and emulate the government as they alone cannot do it and as a private NGO, it has done us to do something of this nature.
“We called ourselves together put heads together drop our little resources together and we are here today.”
Receiving the camp commandant Mr Irhijefe Felix lauded the effort of the NBM Africa for deeming it fit to come to Evwreni IDP camp.
