First Nigeria owned TSTV set to rival DSTV, Offers Pay as You Go, Wi-Fi Internet

TSTV, which stands for Telcom Satellites Television, plans to roll out a Pay-As-You-Consume model for customers with a WIFI internet. TSTV is expected to send DSTV out of business in Nigeria and users seem to embrace this dream.

At his launch on October 1, 2017, TSTV will introduce the introduction of smart set-top boxes with Direct To Home (DTH) service into the Nigerian market.

With DTH technology, a customer will receive broadcasting signals directly from the satellite onset-topt top box (STB).

A major advantage is that the viewer can opt to watch programs of his choice with a Pay-As-You-Consume model being offered by the TSTV.

DTH tech brings television channels in Standard Definition and High Definition, the connected set top box allows one to browse content from Twitter, Facebook, Daily Motion, video on-demand sites, Over the Top, OTT apps, news, weather etc. through applications residing on STB.

TSTV will be giving DSTV a challenge with its model though industry pundits are already pointing out the unreliability of internet connectivity as a major issue to confront TSTV in Nigeria.

Nigerian Twitter is however optimistic about the imminent launch of TSTV. The HD Smart Set Top Box will work as a tool for personalization, engagement, and new customer experiences and with internet connectivity, using Android software with which one can convert one‘s TV into a smart TV using it.

TSTV is promising subscribers a complimentary 20GB internet capacity every month and this service is available for an extension on demand.

TSTV STB Back-Office End-to-End Solution is an easy-to-maintain solution for delivering TV, Video-On-Demand, and interactive services to end users who use LAN (internet connection). It suits for schools, hospitals, hotels, communities, securities firms and so on.

TSTV STB platform also includes in-built fast Wi-Fi, up to 802.11ac, 1 GBit/s Ethernet and USB 3.0 interface. TSTV STB supports built-in Bluetooth 4.0, RF for hybrid remote control.

Instead of buying separate smart TVs or dongles which are expensive, users can buy integrated set-top boxes which allows them to directly connect to internet, stream media, and access subscribed content.

Another cool feature of unlimited external recording is also available, by plugging in your own external storage device for recording your favourite programs, for example, if one plugs in his own external hard drive of 1TB, they can record up to 1900 hrs of content of a standard definition channel.

TSTV is set to launch on October 1, 2017.
