Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have raided a suspected bandits’ hideout in Dajin Madam Forest, recovering two assault rifles, magazines and live ammunition in a major breakthrough against kidnapping and organised crime.
The operation followed ongoing investigations into the arrest of four suspected arms suppliers who were paraded by the command on July 11, 2026.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed in a statement on Wednesday that operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit carried out the intelligence-led operation on August 2 after one of the arrested suspects, Musbahu Ishaq, provided credible information that led investigators to the criminal hideout.
According to the police, the operation took the team to Dajin Madam Forest, situated between Plateau and Bauchi states, where members of the criminal syndicate were said to have established one of their operational bases.
The police recovered two AR GALIL rifles, model 355, chambered in .223 calibre, alongside two magazines loaded with live .223 ammunition concealed within the forest hideout.
Investigators further uncovered that Ishaq allegedly obtained the weapons from one Rabiu Hassan before supplying them to a suspected bandit kingpin identified as Baba Alhaji Sanusi, who is currently on the run and is believed to be hiding in a forest in Katsina State.
The command said efforts had been intensified to track down Sanusi and other fleeing members of the syndicate, recover additional weapons linked to the network and ensure all suspects are prosecuted.
Commending the operatives for the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-driven policing and sustained offensives against kidnappers, bandits and other violent criminal groups operating within and around the Federal Capital Territory.
He assured residents that security operations would continue until every member of the syndicate was arrested and brought to justice.
The police commissioner also appealed to members of the public to support security agencies with timely and credible intelligence capable of preventing crime and aiding ongoing investigations.
