Music maestro, and Governor of Performing Musician and Employers Association of Nigeria, PMAN, Delta State chapter, Evang. Quincy Uruemuesiri Tebite popularly known as Tsio-Tsio has appealed to Deltans to embrace the proposed security outfit, ‘Delta Hawk’ to be set up by the state government under the Okowa administration to combat crime to its barest minimum.

The PMAN governor, while addressing security issues in the state in a chat with newsmen in Ughelli North Local government Area, disclosed that with the introduction of Delta Hawk security outfit, the state would be too hot a place for criminals to dwell.

While commending the state government over the gesture, Tisio-Tisio said, “The setting up of this outfit is just like the Amotekun in the South West and it is my appeal that those to be recruited should be trained to know the nitty-gritty of the job. They should be indigenes of the state who are abreast with the terrain at which they would work. He also advocated for the decentralization of the police force through the creation of state police or other security outfits

He observed that the police was already short in manpower and therefore need to have her full personnel on the field and not trade them to the few in the society who can afford it, leaving the rest members of the society vulnerable to criminal attacks.

“It is the responsibility of the Nigerian Police to protect all citizens in the country and not just a minority few.

“We are talking about insecurity in the country which is largely due to shortage in security personnel in the country, especially the Nigerian Police but you’ll discover that the same police that complain of shortage in manpower still give out three, four, five and even more of their men to anyone who has the cash to spill. We cannot continue like this because rate of crime is very high in Nigeria.”
