Delta Police Docked University Prof Over Alleged N3 Millon Theft

The Nigeria police attached to the Delta State command has arraigned a professor from the Mathematics Department attached to the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, FUPRE, Delta State at the Magistrate Court I, Agbarho for allegedly stealing the sum of N3million belonging to the Housing Multi-purpose Corporative Society of the institution.
The professor, Michael Okedoye, a lecturer with the Department of Mathematics at the institution, was alleged to have carried out the offence sometime in December 2019 during the acquisition of land from Agbarho community for the society.
In a three count charges with no: MCA /40c/2020, Prof Okedoye allegedly “committed felony and stealing with the use of tricks to cheat the FUPRE Housing Multi-purpose Corporative Society  thereby committing offences punishable under sections 516, 390(9) and 421 of the criminal code cade cap C21 laws of Delta State of Nigeria 2006.”
During yesterday’s hearing, the trial Magistrate, Hon. U. G Fulue who had earlier granted him bail, could not go on with the case due to the absence of the Investigating Police Officer, IPO who had been summoned to testify as the prosecuting witness.
The case was however adjourned to March 1, 2021 by the presiding Magistrate for continuation of hearing.
