Analysis/Opinion: ISOKO DEVELOPMENT UNION AND ITS STRANGE PERFORMANCE

…Iduh Amadhe deserves commendation

BY Jubilant Uzuazo Igelige (JP)

In life, it has always been my fervent consideration that, eulogizing only the dead, whether or not the person in reference deserves it, is a lopsided effort. Some times, people whose inestimable passion and/or stock in trade, is the sole advancement of people, from all walks of life, should be eulogized while still alive. The phrase, “man’s inhumanity to man is best defined when GOODWILL messages and EULOGY are best reserved for only the dead.” This style isn’t acceptable and needs urgent reversal.

First, before I was born, there existed an ethic nationality known as, ISOKO STATE UNION inaugurated in 1943, which later metamorphosed into Isoko Development Union, with an acronym (IDU). There’s no doubt, the growth of IDU, hitherto, as entrenched in history, was deposited in the hands of few patriots, videlicet: Late Rev. Samuel Efeturi, HRM Isaac Ikime and Chief Ekpre Otobo, the founding fathers of the Union, all of blessed memory, who championed the unity, strength and progress of our people. In love and forthrightness, the “Umbrella body” was established to primarily enhance as well as facilitate the coexistence of Isoko CLANS at mutual advantage. May the souls of the patriots continue to rest in peace, amen.

IDU President General, High Chief Iduh Amadhe

In the present day, Isoko is rated as the 4th ethnic nationality in Delta State and known as a peace loving people. From the records, we’ve clocked 77years since creation of IDU, and we’ve recorded monumental upward growth as one indivisible people. It’s therefore thoughtful that, we unanimously honour and commend our heroes past, those who have led the IDU as an umbrella body ab-initio, videlicet: Chief Dennis Etaluku, Chief Enoch Ogbo, Chief Barr. Ovririe, Chief Ononeme, Elder Peter Erebi, Gen Paul Omu (Rtd), Chief Gregory Akpojene, Chief A.P.J Okpakpor, Chief P.W. Omonoseh, etcetera.

Without any iota of doubt, it’s fundamentally true that, the continuity of mantle of leadership, across all strata, viz – suburbs, community, kingdoms, organizations, and States cannot be ignored and underplayed, and “real impacts” are made by “real men” with vision templates. I’ve consistently professed that, no man is perfect or righteous, but when a man’s good outweighs the perceived bad, then the scoring ratio is objectively affirmative.

Isoko people, seeist thou a man, HON. (HIGH CHIEF) IDUH AMADHE, who took the mantle of leadership as President General (PG) of IDU in 2nd Jan. 2015, and has changed the narratives. A man whose developmental antenna stands tall to high heavens, a man whose intent and purpose is progress, peace and unity, a man whose interest is far above personal parochial interest, with displayed uncommon courage in the face of hiccups, always strategizing, pressurising and essentially influencing state and federal government for vast patronage, recognition and development, according to our traditional quantum of oil production. A man, who believes in synergy, whose connectivity transcends the ordinary. He integrated the cooperation of Isoko Traditional Rulers, the two LG chairmen, the political class and the business mogul, to join steer the ship, thereby harnessing every social, economic and political ample opportunity at his disposal to optimal benefits.

The IDU exco, ably led by High Chief Iduh Amadhe, an Uzere born, in Isoko South LGA, has crafted their names and tenure on the sand and stones of times. The two term of this administration, spanning 2nd Jan., 2015 to 31st Dec., 2020, has been so eventful, result oriented, daring and productive, with several impeccable and monumental high powered achievements across our father land. Highlighting few achievements from a one-volume compendium is very key: Building of Isoko House, Construction of IDU Shopping Mall and Isoko Kitchen, Isoko Water Fall, etcetera. (The giant strides of this administration are contained in Sat. 24th Aug., 2019 & Frid. 28th August, 2020 midyear conference address of the PG). Another enduring and exceptional feat of Iduh’s leadership is, the continued settlement of disputes amongst communities, if any. The dispute resolution mechanism put in place, laced with the “anti-war” spirit mustered by PG and other exco members is epochal and commendable.

Conclusively, the importance of a man occupying a sensitive position isn’t known, until and unless, he handover the baton. Physically, our eyes are opened and we can decipher the workings of this present IDU, therefore, it’s my candid opinion that, Isoko must arise as one, act swiftly to express goodwill messages and eulogize High Chief Iduh led executive for these cardinal overwhelming feats, while the sun shines. I mean, this ethnic call for applaud is vital cum historic, as it will serve as a proforma for future evaluation to HIS SUCCESSORS.
