The immediate past Chairman of the Delta State Chapter of the National Association of Microfinance Banks, NAMB, Mr Patrick Okhimamhe, has said his administration left the association united, financially accountable and without liabilities after two years in office.
Okhimamhe, who is the Managing Director of Revelation Microfinance Bank, Delta State, stated this at the 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) and election of new executives of the association in Delta State.
Speaking on his stewardship at the end of the tenure, Okhimamhe said the administration’s major achievements included restoring unity among members, mobilising inactive members, providing free capacity-building programmes and ensuring prudent management of members’ dues.

He said the administration inherited an association in which some members had become inactive or felt neglected, prompting a deliberate effort to reconnect with microfinance banks across the state.
“Before we came in, people had no interest in the association. We tried to bring everybody in,” he said, adding that he personally visited almost every microfinance bank in the state to explain the importance of the association and encourage participation.

Okhimamhe said the administration also anticipated internal divisions and was able to manage them through engagement and strategic planning.
On capacity building, he disclosed that the association organised training programmes for managing directors and staff of member banks at no cost to participants.
“Not just the managing directors, but also the staff of the member banks. And all the training that we did during my tenure, they were free of charge. We did not charge a dime,” he said.
The former chairman also pointed to financial prudence as a major feature of the administration, saying unnecessary expenditure was curtailed by conducting about 99 per cent of meetings online.

He said the administration also handed over to the new executives with excess income over expenditure and no liabilities or borrowings.
Okhimamhe attributed the improved financial confidence among members to transparency in the management of the association’s funds, saying members subsequently paid their dues without persistent reminders.
The outgoing chairman also disclosed that the association introduced an award programme to recognise individuals who had contributed to the growth of the microfinance industry and job creation in Delta State.
He listed Papa Ayo Orisejafor, founder of Eagles Flight MFB, Mrs Justina Kpedi, co-founder of Wetland MFB, and Evangelist Michael Diden Ejele, Founder of Mega Praise MFB, and Dr Jonathan Ososuakpor the immediate past Managing Director of Amju Unique MFB, who is currently a non Executive Director at Fidelity Bank plc.
“These are people that have contributed to the industry, these kind of awards were not there but we created them. he said.
With the election of new executives at the AGM, Okhimamhe urged the incoming leadership to consolidate the gains recorded during his tenure.
“My advice to them is to improve on what we have done. They should work transparently and ensure that whatever they want to do, they carry everybody along,” he said.
Okhimamhe, who combines his banking career with pastoral and community responsibilities, attributed his ability to manage multiple responsibilities to planning and delegation.
“I strategize, I plan and put people in strategic positions and you are good. Be open and once they see that you are open, they will also be open.” he stated.
