Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has urged leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Uvwie Local Government Area to close ranks and intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Dafinone made the call during a consultation meeting with party leaders, candidates and stakeholders at Festus Keyamo Hall, Effurun, where he stressed the need for unity and stronger party structures across the local government.
The senator said the APC must sustain its engagement with voters at the grassroots and ensure that party members remained committed to the task of securing victory for all its candidates in the 2027 elections.
He particularly called for the reconciliation of members who might have become aggrieved or withdrawn from party activities following the APC primaries.
According to him, the party could not afford division at a time when preparations for the 2027 elections were gathering momentum, urging leaders to make deliberate efforts to bring every member back into the fold.
Dafinone also urged APC members to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates contesting for seats in the National Assembly and Delta State House of Assembly.
Speaking at the meeting, Uvwie APC Chairman, Comrade Dickson Sylvester Oghenevwede, congratulated Dafinone on his emergence as the party’s senatorial candidate, describing his candidacy as a collective project of the APC and the people of Delta State.
Oghenevwede said the 2027 election should not be regarded as Dafinone’s personal battle, but a contest that would determine the strength, unity and organisational capacity of the APC in Uvwie and across Delta State.
He assured that the Uvwie chapter would work towards delivering victory for all APC candidates at the polls.
Also speaking, Chairman of the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, JP, said APC stakeholders in Uvwie had intensified mobilisation across communities in the local government.
Ighrakpata said the party was reaching out to residents from different backgrounds, including Arewa, Igbo, Hausa and other non-indigenous groups, in its bid to build a broad-based support base ahead of the elections.
The APC candidate for Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie Federal Constituency, Hon. Chief Ramson Onoyake, JP, urged party members to work for the victory of Dafinone, himself and other APC candidates.
Onoyake appealed to eligible voters to support the party from the presidential election to the National Assembly and state legislature.
Similarly, the APC candidate for Uvwie State Constituency, Hon. Barr. Edafe Emakpor, called for increased grassroots mobilisation, saying the party’s success at the polls would depend on the collective efforts of its leaders, members and supporters.
In his remarks, Delta Central APC Chairman, Chief P.D.O. Akpeki, identified unity, cooperation and effective grassroots mobilisation as critical to the party’s chances in 2027.
Akpeki urged candidates and party leaders to maintain close contact with party faithful across the district, stressing that the APC was determined to deliver all its candidates in the elections.
He expressed optimism that Delta State would emerge among the states recording the strongest support for President Tinubu’s re-election.
The consultation formed part of Dafinone’s ongoing engagements with APC leaders and stakeholders across Delta Central to strengthen party unity, consolidate grassroots structures and mobilise support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
