The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Senator Ede Dafinone, has intensified efforts to strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, with a strategic grassroots mobilisation meeting with party leaders and ward executives in Ethiope East Local Government Area.
Dafinone, who is the APC senatorial candidate for Delta Central in the 2027 general elections, held the meeting on Monday at the Council Hall, Isiokolo, where he charged party leaders and executives to take the APC’s message to the grassroots and mobilise voters across the local government.
The meeting was attended by the Executive Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Augustine Ogedegbe, JP, APC LGA Chairman, Chief Midwest Iboyetete, ward executives and other prominent party leaders and stakeholders.
The senator used the occasion to highlight his activities and interventions in the National Assembly, while outlining his vision for the people of Delta Central should he secure another term in the Senate.
He urged the party executives to remain united and committed to the task of rebuilding the APC at the grassroots, stressing that the success of the party in 2027 would depend largely on the strength of its ward and local government structures.
According to him, his office has facilitated several opportunities and interventions across Delta Central, including contracts, pensionable employment, empowerment initiatives and infrastructural projects.
Dafinone assured constituents and party stakeholders that his doors would remain open, adding that he would continue to engage with the people and respond to issues affecting their welfare and development.
Earlier, the senator paid a strategic visit to Chief Love Ojakovo, a prominent APC leader and former political associate of former Deputy President of the Senate and former APC senatorial candidate for Delta Central, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, at his residence.
The meeting with Ojakovo was seen as part of efforts to consolidate unity among APC stakeholders and foster greater cooperation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Dafinone described the discussion as meaningful, saying it provided an opportunity to deliberate on the future of Delta Central and ways of advancing the interests of the people.
“Today, I met with Chief Love Ojakovo at his residence. We had a meaningful and engaging conversation on the future of Delta Central and the steps we must take to advance the interests of our people.
“I remain committed to listening, engaging and working with our leaders and stakeholders at all levels,” he said.
The engagement is considered politically significant against the backdrop of previous alignments within the Delta APC, particularly Ojakovo’s association with the Omo-Agege political camp in Ethiope East.
The renewed engagement with influential party stakeholders is expected to further consolidate the party’s structures as APC leaders prepare for the 2027 electoral contest.
Speaking on his meeting with the LGA and ward executives, Dafinone said the discussions centred on practical strategies for effective grassroots mobilisation and strengthening the party ahead of the elections.
“Earlier today, I engaged the leadership of the APC LGA and Ward Executives of Ethiope East in a strategic meeting in Isiokolo.
“We discussed measures for effective grassroots mobilisation and how best to strengthen our collective efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections,” he said.
The senator thanked party leaders, executives and stakeholders in Ethiope East for their continued support and commitment to the APC.
“Together, we will build a stronger APC and work for the progress of our people,” he added.
Also speaking, Ogedegbe urged the party executives to recognise their strategic role as the pillars of the APC at the grassroots.
He called for greater unity, commitment and cooperation among party members, stressing that victory in 2027 would require sustained mobilisation and a united political structure.
Ogedegbe urged the executives to work closely with party leaders and stakeholders, while remaining steadfast in their efforts to expand and strengthen the APC across Ethiope East.
Those who attended the meeting included Chief Godwin Ogbetuor, Chief John Itebu, Chief Adelabu Bodjor, Chief Justin Oberhiri Uloho, Chief Ejemudaro Salubi and Chief Samson Anomi, among other party leaders and ward executives.
