The Solomon Agwana-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa State has conducted primaries to select candidates for National Assembly seats and the 24 state constituencies, describing the exercise as peaceful and transparent.
Addressing journalists at the party secretariat in Yenagoa, State Chairman Hon. Solomon Agwana said the process was free, fair, and hitch-free, with candidates emerging through consensus.
He described those selected as credible and “tried and trusted,” noting that one incumbent National Assembly candidates retained his tickets while two other were selected for the Senate seat.
Agwana added that the state assembly candidates enjoy grassroots support and expressed confidence in their chances at the 2027 general elections.
The chairman dismissed reports of a factional group within the state PDP. “The activities of the imposter are not known to law or to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,” he said, asserting that he remains the authentic state Chairman of party and any other parallel leadership structure “will soon fizzle out.”
Agwana urged party faithful and supporters to remain steadfast and mobilize en masse for PDP candidates in the 2027 polls.
