The Executive Director, Engineering Services at the Niger Delta Basin Development Commission and chieftain of the All Progressive Congress in Ughelli North, Comrade Chuks Erhire has denied and debunked the rumors that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was rejected by the people of Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Comrade Erhire made this known in statement while reacting to the rumours that was peddled.
It was learned that thousands of youths in from Ughelli North stormed the street in a Road- Work for the immediate past Deputy President of the Senate, Sen Ovie Omo-Agege and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to Comrade Chuks Erhire “What happened yesterday was not a political campaign but it was an idea muted by two young men from Ward 3/7 and 1/5 respectively.
“They muted the idea through the social media space and other young people took it upon themselves and they are asking the him, (Sen Ovie Omo-Agege) to throw the hat into ring and contest for the 2027 governorship because the height any society can attain is depending on the quality of a leadership.
“You cannot send dummies into government and expect a stirling performance. and because they know that with Senator Ovie Omo-Agege at the saddle as Governor of Delta State amidst the huge financial resources in the state, he would be able to transfer it to be the Dubai of Africa.
“Obarisi as the Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial district from 2016-2023, performed very well, he was the only senator that performed more than any sitting governor you can talk.
“Within four years as the Deputy Senate President, he gave good account of himself, he attracted a federal Polytechnic here, influenced the Federal University of Petroleum Resources and gave legal backing to FUPRE.
There were moves by enemies of Delta state to move the university firstly to Bayelsa state and then to the North but when Obarisi came in as a Senator, he did everything that a senator should do and the Senate passed the law to establish that university and the then President Muhammad Buhari signed it and today FUPRE is sitting with the full law backing as the world class special Petroleum Resources University.
“As at today, we have Federal Polytechnic in Orogun that has brought education closer to the people unlike before now.
We have the Federal University of Health and Medical Sciences, Kwale where staff employment is currently ongoing and by September, admission of students will commence. This are all the handiwork of Obarisi.
The people came out in their large numbers and the inscriptions on the placards spoke for themselves, the statement they made, spoke for themselves that they are missing their leader.
“That since he left the Senate and the mantle of leadership, there is a case of arrested development as there are no more projects and programs anywhere in Delta Central and particularly in Ughelli North where they came out from.
“And for that, they want Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to step into the ring and contest for the governorship of Delta State in 2027, with Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the ballot they will sweep the entire votes in this area.
“If you have anyone coming out to say the people reject him, it is an evidence that they are drowning.” Chuks revealed
Speaking further on the state credited to Olorogun Elvis Oharisi, Chuks said, “For the record and emphasis, Mr Elvis Oharisi is well known to me, we were together in Labour Party in 2015 when Obarisi was contesting for Senate.
“He decamped and went to the PDP and we defeated him in his polling unit at Otovwodo in that 2015 election.
“In 2015, 2019 and 2023 we defeated Elvis Oharisi in his polling unit at Otovwodo in Ward 1/5, we defeated his political party, the PDP and when I say defeat it was a total defeat from the House of Assembly, Reps, Senate, Governorship and Presidential and for that, he has nothing to say.
“These people are just political errand boys and they know they are going to be given the beaten of their lives by the governor because they have no response to what has happened.
“These people came out by themselves and the followership Ovie Omo-Agege enjoys in Ughelli and across Delta State is organic and it not a thing you can buy with money.
“Supporters of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege should not listen to the voice of the people that are drowning politically but the should remain steadfast, united and focus as four years will be too much for him to transform Delta State.
“I have heard people saying that if Ovie Omo-Agege be come the governor, the political equation will e distorted four years is too much for transform Delta State into whatnot should become
“And for anyone to come out and tell you that the Ughelli North reject Omo-Agege, it means that person is mentally unstable and the person needs to be examined by a Medical Doctor.
“Anywhere you go around Ughelli begining from Olori, Low Cost, Aroh, Mudi Erhenede, Uloho Avenue, Oveto and upper Afiesere roads, non is passable or the Ahwinawhi, nowhere you can see development in Ughelli North.
“Huge resources is coming to Delta State and across Ughelli North you cannot see development, you cannot access Oviri-Ogor from the express.
“They should discard the rumours of the political drowning man that Ughelli North rejects Ovie Omo-Agege.”
