Crime: One Arrested As Gunmen Kill Three Police Officers Cart Away Two AK-47 Riffles In Delta

UNIDENTIFIED gunmen have shot dead three police officers injured local vigilante members and cart away two Ak47 riffles as the local vigilante members injured are currently receiving treatment in Asaba headquarters of Delta state.
The three officers, Asp Eke Francis, Inspr.Joshua Akengbo and Cpl Perekedo Unene and other local vigilante members were attacked, it was gathered.
According security source, “The the Director of Operation, DOP, Supol Gambo a CSP, received a distress call from a man, that vigilante in the street were attacked and the DPO detailed the patrol men to the scene and as they were heading toward the direction, they were attacked
“Unknown armed men suspected to be IPOB opened fire on them and killed three policemen, Asp. Eke Francis, Inspr Joshua Akengbo and Cpl Perekedo Unene and made away with two AK47 riffles while one APS Bassy Wisdom is receiving treatment at the hospital.
The source further revealed that the suspect were led by one man popularly known as ‘Okputo’. The vigilante men are receiving treatment at the hospital, while the deceased have been deposited at the Specialist hospital mortuary.
When contacted, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright said, “Men of Okpanam division while responding to distress call were ambushed by unknown persons, unknown armed hoodlums and they killed three of our personnel.
“The command has been able to arrest one of the suspects who is helping us with useful information. We are also using this opportunity to call on members of the public that has information that can help us to avail us the information.
“We are doing our best and in no time the remaining suspects will be arrested.” Edafe revealed.
