BREAKING: Delta Commissioner Izeze Lands In Jail For14 Days Over Alleged Delta Central APC Meeting Violence

 

The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Hon. Reuben Izeze, has reportedly been remanded for 14 days by an Effurun State High Court over issues arising from the alleged assault on the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Protocol, Mr. Simon Mudi, popularly known as Temple.

The incident occurred in connection with the violence that followed the APC Delta Central stakeholders’ meeting at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun.

The specific charges against Izeze were not immediately available as of press time.

A viral video seen by this medium showed the commissioner entering a Effurun Area Command Police Sienna vehicle after the court proceedings, before he was driven away from the court premises.

The development comes after Izeze had accused the Uvwie Local Government Chairman, Chief Tony Ofoni, of orchestrating an assault against him during the incident.

Meanwhile, the Delta State Government had condemned the violence and directed security agencies to identify, arrest and prosecute those responsible.

The government and police authorities have yet to issue official statements on Izeze’s reported remand or the specific allegations before the court.

 

A political leader in Ughelli South who spoke on anonymous condition said, “I am not the person that sent him to prison and besides, prison is made for humans.

“Obasanjo went to prison and he came out to be Nigeria president and Izeze can also become the governor if he comes out.”

It was learned that the Commissioner was docked in Court 3 in Effurun, Delta State.

 

In a related development, the Delta State Government has suspended the Commissioner for Works (Highway and Urban) indefinitely over the fracas

In a statement signed by the Secretary to the Delta State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu, the suspension is to enable security agents to carry out unbiased investigations.

The Delta State Government has announced the indefinite suspension of Hon.Izeze Rume Yakubu Reuben,Commissioner for Works(Highway and Urban Roads)with immediate effect.

According to a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Kingsley Eze Emu, the suspension is to enable the Security Agencies carry out an unbiased investigation of allegations associating him with the assault on the Senior Special Assistant on Protocol, Mr. Simon Mudi also known as (Temple) at the Petroleum Training Institute(PTI) Effurun,recently.

The statement added that the State Government remains committed to the maintenance of public safety in all circumstances which guarantees law and order and the sanctity of lives.This position is upheld even when institutions of state are involved.
