According to Akpodiete, “The decision to seek redress through the party’s established channels is my commitment to democratic values and institutional processes within the NDC.
“As a loyal and dedicated member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, I have utilized the internal mechanisms provided by our party to respectfully raise concerns regarding the conduct of the primary election.
“It is my belief that our great and rapidly growing party will do the right thing and ensure that due process, fairness, transparency, and internal democracy prevail.
“he petition was filed in good faith and reflects a broader commitment to preserving confidence in the party’s structures and electoral processes.”
“Fairness in party primaries would strengthen unity among members and enhance the NDC’s preparedness for future electoral contests.
“The credibility of internal party elections remains fundamental to the growth of democratic institutions and public trust in political organisations.” He stated.
Prof. Akpodiete emphasized that transparent and accountable processes are essential for any political party seeking to position itself as a credible alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape.
“While we are awaiting the outcome of the appeals process, I want to appealed to our supporters and stakeholders across Delta Central Senatorial District to remain peaceful and patient and avoid actions capable of generating unnecessary tension within the party.
“I urge all my supporters and well-wishers across Delta Central to remain calm, law-abiding, and patient. We must allow the party’s internal processes to run their course without unnecessary tension or division.
“Our party is bigger than any individual and as such we must conduct ourselves with dignity, maturity, and respect for one another, regardless of our differing views.”
