Delta State House of Assembly candidate for Ughelli North Constituency II, under the platform of African Democratic Congress, ADC, Mr Richard Ovwreghederohwo, has said the visit of the Vice presidential candidate of the party, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, Delta State governorship candidate, Chief Great Ogboru, to the traditional ruler of Ughelli Kingdom has sent a strong political signal ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The ADC House of Assembly candidate who described their visit as “wonderful” and “very rare”, said the decision of the Ughelli monarch and other traditional ruler to receive the delegation despite the tight schedule was significant.
Speaking on the development, Aduvie said, “It is wonderful because it is very rare and I am happy that the traditional ruler gave us an audience because, despite the tight schedule of today, His Excellency, Right Honourable Rotimi Amaechi, created an opportunity to meet with our king.
“I am happy, and I believe this will send a signal to Delta State that something new is coming.”
Aduvie, however, cautioned against interpreting the visit as a political campaign, explaining that Amaechi was in the area for a ceremony and only considered it appropriate to pay a visit to the traditional ruler.
He said the former minister “did not come for political campaigning or anything like that,” as his visit was primarily an opportunity to meet the monarch.
“What we have heard from thousands of people and what would benefit the party is being decided by God, not man. We did not come here to campaign,” Aduvie said.
According to him, Amaechi “came for a ceremony in Uvwi, and he said it was wise for him to see the traditional ruler of the kingdom. That is the reason why he came.”
On the political expectations surrounding the 2027 elections, Aduvie urged the people of Ughelli to remain vigilant and make what he described as the right decision when the time comes.
“My word to Ughelli people is for them to shine their eyes and do the needful when the time comes, they should do the needful.”
Nigerian are fully aware of the challenges confronting them, and that they had the power to change their circumstances through their political choices.
“What is happening, everybody is seeing it. It is not hidden. Everybody knows what is happening. Everybody knows they are suffering, and we know we have the power to change this,” he said.
The ADC candidate said the people would continue to experience hardship if they chose to maintain the status quo, but could alter the situation by making a different political choice.
“But if we decide to leave things the way they are, we will continue with the suffering. If we want to change it, we still have the power to do so,” he said.
“I believe people will change it this time around because nobody wants to suffer.” He stated.
