Flooding: Anambra Police Warn Parents, School Bus Operators Over Children’s Safety

The Anambra State Police Command has warned parents, guardians, schools and transport operators to heighten vigilance and prioritise the safety of schoolchildren amid heavy rainfall and flooding across parts of the state. The warning followed the death of a school pupil in a recent flooding incident, prompting the command to urge residents to take extra precautions whenever severe weather creates hazardous conditions. One person has died following the collapse of part of an old building being demolished at Otolo-Nnewi, in the Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State. The deceased, identified as 25-year-old Bakeru Iwal, was reportedly trapped when a section of the structure suddenly collapsed during the demolition.
