Three suspected armed robbers terrorizing residents of Ughelli North have been killed by a team of local vigilante members from Ekiugbo-Ughelli community in a gun duel in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta state.
It was gathered that the suspected armed robbers were killed along the Ughelli axis of the East/ West road last Wednesday while escaping towards Warri.
According to an anonymous source, On the eve of Ekiugbo community festival, they got an information that the robbers were operating and robbing their victims along the Ekiugbo-Eruemukowharien old road.
“Upon getting the information, the local vigilantes mobilized to the scene and the robbers, on sighting them opened fire to scare the vigilante to enable their escape but were resisted.
While chasing them towards Agbarho, a tyre of their unidentified vehicle was shot at and it somersaulted before Delta Glass which resulted to their death and one other left with life threatening injuries.
“Three of the robbers died instantly, and the other who survived with a broken leg and arm was whisked to an unknown destination.
The community vigilante chairman, a former president general of Ekiugbo could not be contacted to confirm the incident as his mobile lines were not reachable as at the time of this report.
When contacted the, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Edafe Bright said, “Not Confirmed.”
