Anambra Police Debunk Viral Alert On Alleged Military Helicopter Operation

The Anambra State Police Command has dismissed as false a security alert circulating on social media alleging that a military helicopter dropped unknown items in a bush located between Nimo and Adazi-Nnukwu in Anaocha Local Government Area of the state.

The Command said it immediately deployed operatives to the area following the viral report to verify the claim and assess the security situation.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement issued on Thursday, disclosed that preliminary findings showed the area was calm, with no suspicious objects or security threats discovered.

According to him, normal activities have continued uninterrupted within and around the location, while security operatives have maintained routine surveillance to ensure public safety and sustain residents’ confidence in the state’s security architecture.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, urged residents to disregard the false alarm and refrain from circulating unverified information capable of creating unnecessary panic and undermining public confidence.

The police commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive policing, intelligence-led operations and collaboration with other security agencies and community stakeholders to maintain peace and security across the state.

He also advised residents to verify security-related information through official channels and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or other security agencies.
