The newly deployed Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, has announced plans to hold security stakeholders’ interactive sessions across the three senatorial districts of the state.
The engagements, scheduled to commence on Wednesday, are aimed at strengthening community participation in policing, improving intelligence gathering and deepening collaboration between the police and residents in tackling security challenges.
The initiative is in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police to promote community-based policing and strategic partnerships with critical stakeholders.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the meetings will bring together traditional rulers, local government chairmen, presidents-general, youth and women leaders, religious leaders, market leaders and other stakeholders.
Ikenga said the sessions would provide an avenue for stakeholders to deliberate on prevailing security concerns and develop stronger community-based strategies for crime prevention and public safety.
The first meeting will hold in the Anambra South Senatorial District at Anaedo Hall, Nnewi, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, by 12 noon.
The Anambra North session is scheduled for Thursday, August 13, at the Umueri Civic Centre, while the Anambra Central meeting will take place on Friday, August 14, at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka. Both sessions will also commence at 12 noon.
The Commissioner of Police urged all invited stakeholders to attend and actively participate in the engagements, stressing that stronger police-community collaboration was essential to addressing security challenges and sustaining peace in the state.
The sessions will be among CP Oji Ama’s first major stakeholder engagements following his assumption of office as the new Commissioner of Police in Anambra State.
