Three family members have been kidnapped at the entrance of their compound by suspected kidnappers l in Evwreni community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The three brothers, Samuel, Harvest and Endurance Akpodavwe, were kidnapped last Thursday by armed men. It was gathered.
Though the report was sketchy, a source disclosed that the kidnapped victims were, a father and his two sons while other held that they are three brothers from same parents.
According to sources, “On that faithful day, three of them were returning from an unknown place and as they were about entering their compound, the gunmen struck.
“The gunmen in other to scare people away shot sporadically before they took three of them away to an unknown destination.
Another source disclosed that in the previous year, one of the brothers was kidnapped after the family and the kidnappers demanded that proceeds from the ceremony they held should be added to the ransom.
“And it was after the ransom that the boy was released and this year again, three of them have been kidnapped.”
“The incident was reported at the Police Post in the community and they were referred to A’ division in Ughelli.
“At A’ Ughelli division, after the incident was reported, security operatives in conjunction with local vigilantee from the community were sent to the scene for first hand information and rescue of the victims.”
The president general of Evwreni, Mr Kenneth Ukpebitere said, “Well, journalist, journalist, I am not prone to give any information to that, am not a member of the family, I am just the president general.
“I am not current with the happenings and I cannot give you the fact because I have not been briefed by my exco and until I am briefed, I cannot issue any statement to that.” When contacted.
Reacting to the incident, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe disclosed that he is not aware.
But a senior security source from the state Police Command confirmed the incident at Evwreni community.
The anonymous security source said, “The president general of Evwreni community came to report the incident at the Ughelli Area Command on the 12 of February,2026.
The source further revealed and said, “On that faithful day, the president general of Evwreni came to report that three brothers were being kidnapped while entering their compound.
“They were about opening the gate for the vehicle the came with to enter when gunmen from nowhere took them away as the were shooting sporadically.
“Immediately, combine team from Ughelli Area Command and A’ division were seconded to the area to track the hoodlums for the release of the kidnapped victims.
“Meanwhile investigation is ongoing to unravel the suspects as our men are working to ensure that the victims are released unhurt.”
