Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has solidified his legacy as a beacon of peace and security in Delta State. His decisive actions through the office of the SSG, Peace and Conflict Resolution in bringing peace and harmony back to Igbide Community in Isoko South local Government Area which has been enmeshed in leadership tussle for some time now leading to factionalisation and sharp division among indigene of the community exemplify his steadfast dedication to the well being of his constituents.
The royal stool became vacant in 2023 after the demise of HRM Edward Obukeni 1 and since then,igbide Community has been engulfed in internal crisis over the tussle to fill the vacant traditional stool of the ancient kingdom.
However the strategic and effective collaboration of the Delta State Government, the Director General, Revenue Tracking and Audit Delta State, Chief Barr. Mike Edegware and the Honourable Commissioner for lands Survey and Urban Development Chief Emamusi Obiode has restored peace and tranquility to Igbide Community fostering optimism for a brighter future in Igbide Kingdom.
The peace efforts initiated by the state government yielded the first fruit on Saturday 12th April , 2025 when the Delta State commissioner for women affairs community and social development, Princess Barr. Pat Ajudua led a team of government officials and election observers to supervise the successful conduct of the Community Development Association election which saw the Ven. Hon. Augustine Ovie (JP) emerging as President General.
And when the long awaited news was announced on Thursday June 5 that the Delta State Government has approved the selection of HRM Patrick Agre as the new Ovie of Igbide kingdom, the entire community erupted in tumultuous joy with men, women and youths singing and dancing while also showering praises on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The confirmation of HRM Patrick Agre by the state government is a welcome development and victory for all Igbide people. Furthermore, it’s a testament of HRM Patrick Agre’s unwavering dedication, level headedness, strong determination and undiluted loyalty to Igbide land.
I urge your majesty to continue upholding the values of our tradition and promoting unity and harmony in Igbide kingdom, isoko nation and Delta State.
HRM Patrick Agre brings to the throne his wealth of intellect, immense wisdom, consummate experience, character, national and international contacts, qualities that made him the choice of the kingmakers and Igbide people in general.
This is calling on all chiefs and indigene of Igbide kingdom home and abroad to close ranks and rally round HRM Patrick Agre to ensure a smooth enthronement and success on the throne.
