Delta Central Senatorial aspirant, Prof. Alexander Akpodiete, of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has continued his grassroots consultation across the district with a strategic interface involving leaders and stakeholders from Ughelli North, Ughelli South Local Government Areas.
The meeting, which attracted political leaders, community stakeholders, youths and party faithful, was focused on the future of Delta Central and the need for inclusive representation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the engagement, Prof. Akpodiete said the consultations formed part of his commitment to understanding the challenges facing communities within the senatorial district and building a people-oriented agenda.
According to him, “Delta Central deserves responsive leadership that prioritises development, youth empowerment, quality education, Agriculture, security and improved healthcare and economic opportunities for the people.
The senatorial hopeful stressed the importance of unity among Urhobo Nation, with a sustainable development that could only be achieved through collective participation and purposeful leadership.
Akpodiete also assured party members and supporters that his aspiration would remain focused on service, equity and effective representation at the National Assembly if elected.
Stakeholders at the meeting commended the NDC aspirant for embarking on wide consultations across the district, describing the engagement as a step towards strengthening political participation and grassroots inclusion.
Several leaders who spoke at the gathering urged politicians to remain connected to the people and focus on addressing pressing socio-economic issues affecting communities in Delta Central.
The interface is part of ongoing political consultations by the NDC aspirant across the eight local government areas that make up the Delta Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 elections.
