Wike’s administration misled us over petition against Amaechi – Integrity group

The integrity group yesterday declared that the Rivers State government misled them into filing a petition against the former governor of the State, Chibuike Amaechi, before the Senate and anti-graft agencies over alleged corruption.
The executive director of integrity group, Livingstone Wechie, who addressed newsmen in Abuja, disclosed that it dawned on them that the Nyesom Wike-led government was out to witch hunt Amaechi when it refused to take him to court.
He however accused the Wike-led government of not being transparent in the administration of the state.
The group had filed a petition over corruption criminal breach of trust unlawful, enrichment and conversion of over 70 billion naira state resources against Amaechi and other functionaries.
Wechie who explained that they intervened in the matter in good faith, added that upon their investigation they discovered that most of the allegations in the petition given to them by the Rivers State govern the was false.
While he denied being used by the Rivers State governor, however added that their group owes no apology to Amaechi because their intervention in the matter has opened up the discuss on the matter.
“I will not linger with the media on the issue of apology. Apology is immaterial. We have come out here to state our position. No regrets and I wasn’t used. The beauty of our action is that it has opened up the platform for people to probe the government of the day.”
On the antic of the current Rivers State government he said “We challenge the Wike-led government to immediately publish all budgets of Rivers State for the past two years plus, publish all procurement plans thereto, publish evidence of all competitive biddings and tenders on all projects and contracts executed so far under this administration including his security votes, publish evidence of every statutory allocation to the three arms of government in Rivers State and independent management of projects by these arms in line with relevant laws in force in the State to show that it is not a ‘’dishonest’’, extortionist, malevolent and criminal government.”
