The President of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Youth Wing, Ughere Blessed, has endorsed Senator Ede Dafinone for a second term in the Senate, urging Urhobo youths to rally behind the Delta Central lawmaker for continuity.
Ughere, in a statement titled “Why Urhobo Nation Youths Must Endorse and Support Senator Ede Dafinone,” said the endorsement was informed by the senator’s accessibility, responsiveness and commitment to creating opportunities for young people across the Urhobo nation.
He cited Dafinone’s intervention in securing places for 20 Urhobo youths in the ongoing Niger Delta Community Development Board (NCDMB) Media and Communication Training as evidence of what he described as responsive and result-oriented representation.
According to him, the opportunity followed an appeal he made to the senator after learning about the training programme in September last year.
“I reached out to him immediately. Without hesitation, he contacted the Board, and within two days, I was asked to submit 20 names for the training,” Ughere said.
“Today, I am proud to say that 20 Urhobo youths are currently participating in the ongoing NCDMB Communication Training, and all of them are doing well.”
The UPU youth leader said the intervention was one of several opportunities facilitated by Dafinone for Urhobo youths, stressing that such interventions had not been driven by partisan considerations.
He described the senator as a representative who listens to the concerns of his constituents and follows them up with concrete action.
“Beyond words, Senator Ede Dafinone has consistently shown that he is a leader who listens and acts. Whenever the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide calls on him, he has always been available to support the interests of our people,” he said.
Ughere also commended Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, alongside Dafinone, for what he described as their responsiveness to the aspirations of the Urhobo people.
He maintained that political support should be anchored on measurable impact, arguing that elected representatives should be assessed by their ability to translate political office into tangible benefits and opportunities for their constituents.
“Our appreciation must go beyond words. We must recognise and support leaders committed to the empowerment of our people,” he said.
The UPU Youth Wing president subsequently called on Urhobo youths to support Dafinone’s bid for a second term, arguing that continuity would enable the senator to consolidate the programmes and initiatives already commenced.
“For this reason, Urhobo youths must rally around Senator Ede Dafinone and support him to complete all that he has started,” he declared.
Ughere said the 20 youths participating in the NCDMB training represented more than beneficiaries of a single intervention, describing the programme as an investment in their skills, confidence and future.
“The opportunity you gave these 20 youths is an investment in their skills, confidence, and future. May God continue to strengthen you,” he said.
Reaffirming his position, Ughere declared: “Therefore, I endorse him and I support him for a second term.”
He concluded with an expression of appreciation to the senator, describing Dafinone as “the listening Senator” and saying, “Migwor, Senator Ede Dafinone! Migwor, the listening Senator!”
