Police Asp Dies In Hospital Days After Gunmen Attack In Delta

 
 
A police officer attached to Agbarho division in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta state has reportedly died from bullet injuries sustained from unidentified gunmen while on patrol.
It was gathered that the deceased officer, Asp Abdul Hussein was shut on his abdomen by suspected gunmen in an unidentified white Toyota Camry, Spider.
The incident and death of the ASP Abdul Hussein was denied by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright when contacted.
A source from the Delta State Police Command who confirmed the incident on anonymous condition said, “On 20 May 2024, a surveillance Team led by Asp Abdul Hussein while on visibility patrol along Oviri street, Agbarho  stopped a Lexus Jeep following them from behind and in an attempt to search the vehicle, a white Spider with unknown registration number was driving towards them in a high speed.
“When our men tried to stop them, occupants of the car opened fire on our men and then leader of the team, Asp Abdul Hussein sustained bullet injuries on his abdomen.
“He was immediately rushed to VICOGA Specialist Hospital Agbarho, for medical attention and he was responding to treatment.Few days after, he died and we could ascertained if it was lack of care.”
When contacted via message, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright said, “Nothing like that pls”.
