Oborevwori To Grace GOMEP-NG 2026 Conference As Special Guest

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, has been announced as the Special Guest of Honour at the 2026 Annual Conference, Lecture and Workshop of the Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP-NG).

 

The conference, scheduled for Thursday, November 26, 2026, will hold at the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development, opposite the Central Bank of Nigeria Headquarters, Abuja, from 10:00 a.m.

 

Themed, “Securing Nigeria’s 2027 Elections: The Role of Online Media in Information Integrity, Public Trust and Democratic Resilience,” the event will bring together online media practitioners, policymakers, academics and other stakeholders to examine the place of digital journalism in Nigeria’s electoral process.

 

According to GOMEP-NG National Publicity Secretary, Tochukwu Eluwa, discussions will focus on information integrity, public trust and responsible journalism ahead of the 2027 general elections, with particular attention to the challenges posed by misinformation and disinformation.

 

Other issues expected to feature include professional ethics in online journalism, credibility of digital information and the role of the media in strengthening democratic resilience.

 

The guild said Governor Oborevwori’s participation would provide a governance perspective to discussions on responsible journalism, public trust and the information environment surrounding the 2027 elections.

 

The governor’s administration has anchored its development programme on the MORE Agenda, Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security, with emphasis on infrastructure, healthcare, education, youth and women empowerment, and economic development.
