Udu Youths under the auspices of Ukoko Ighele (Union of Udu Youths) have condemned in strong terms activities of cultists and other social vices in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, asking cultists to relocate in their own interest while also requesting Julius Berger to fix the dilapidated Udu Road or face the wrath of Udu youths in a week time. The Youth body also called for creation of more police divisions to help check the security challenges in the area.

The Youths stated this on Friday during their maiden one day strategic security/townhall meeting at Otor-Udu, headquarters of Udu local government area of Delta state during which crucial security issues as it affect Udu were discussed with thousands of youths drawn from the 36 Udu Communities in attendance.

Speaking at the crucial meeting, the DPO of Ovwian-Aladja Police Division, CSP Akintunde Oyeniran who said the meeting was timely and lauded Udu Youths, revealed that security which is all encompassing should be everybody’s business, maintaining that security in the various community in Udu should be paramount in the minds of all Udu sons and daughters especially the Youths.

While noting that development cannot thrive in the atmosphere of rancor as a result of social vices like cultism appealed to the Youths to always furnish the security agents with useful information so as to track down hoodlums masquerading as cultists in Udu.

The DPO admitted that cultism was rife in Udu but has been reduced to the barest minimum in Udu since his assumption of office at Ovwian Aladja/ Police Station because of his tactical approach to the menace.

On his part, the President of Udu Youths, Comrade Emmanuel Esiefa said all cultists should relocate from the 36 Udu communities, affirming that Udu cannot be a safe heaven for hoodlums.

Esiefa appealed to the Federal Government to create more Police Stations for Udu, reiterating that only one police Station cannot salvage the security challenges in the area because of the borgeoing population and increased economic activities in the area.

Esiefa also revealed that thousands of Udu sons and daughters have benefited from the corporate social responsibility committee of the Youth body which he set up since assumption of office in May 2019 in the area of Skill acquisition and Scholarship programme.

He demanded that in line with the ultimatum issued to Julius Berger over the company failure to fix the Ujevwu bye pass road on the railway within two weeks, the youths were determined to embark on a peaceful protest which would lead to complete shutdown of all Julius Berger operations in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State including that of CCECC and CRCC because what the company did was a complete sham. He called on Julius Berger to properly fix the road for it to be motorable.
