Breaking: Akpodiete Resigns from ADC Over Internal Crisis

 

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress in Delta Central, Prof. Alexander O. Akpodiete, has resigned his membership of the party, over lingering leadership crisis, legal disputes, and internal challenges.

In a statement signed personally signed and addressed to the leadership of the  ADC in Ughelli North, Delta Central and the State Chairman of ADC, and his supporters on Monday, he  held that his decision followed deep reflection on developments within the party that has made it difficult to continue in good faith.

He expressed gratitude to party faithful and supporters for their commitment during his time in the ADC, and  their collective efforts that was geared towards building a credible political alternative for the people.

According to him, “This decision follows recent developments within the party, including leadership changes, ongoing legal issues, and internal challenges that make it difficult to continue in good faith.

“My commitment to Delta Central remains strong and unwavering. This is not the end of the journey—it is a step toward a better path forward,” he added.

“While  I will continue consultations with stakeholders and supporters across the senatorial district, with a view to charting a new political direction, in the coming days, I will share the next phase of this journey ahead of 2027 general elections.

“We reaffirmed our commitment to the people of Delta Central Senatorial District as my political ambition remains intact.

“I have been in active in Delta Central politics, associated with ongoing political engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

His resignation is expected to trigger political realignments within the district as stakeholders await his next move.
